Services

Financial Support: Eye care exams and specialized equipment or technologies are unaffordable to many low income families. The Low Vision Council provides financial support for eye care exams, equipment such as glasses and bioptics or specialized technologies such as CCTV’s, electronic magnifiers, and computer programs to patients in need.

Loaned Equipment: When available, the Low Vision Council’s special programs provide temporary equipment and computer programs to low vision patients until new equipment or technologies can be located. These items are loaned for up to six months.

Donations

The Low Vision Council is a donation-based organization so financial support from friends is crucial to continue to provide assistance to the Low Vision underserved. CCTV’s that allow a senior to do simple tasks such as read their mail or newspaper can cost $3,000 to $4,000. In most cases this is a cost that a person on a fixed income, or a family in the poor or low income category cannot afford. Your generous donation can make that difference for those in need. Please join us by calling 714.992.7835, E-mail us at lowvisioncouncil@scco.edu or write to the address listed below. A council member will contact you right away.

Friends of the LVC

Friends of the LVC is community members such as yourself that become a part of the Low Vision Council providing assistance to the underserved. Friends of the LVC can volunteer their time to assist in our events, or can be community sponsors helping the LVC get the word out about our mission. In the future, our Friends network will enjoy discounts from our Corporate Friends Network. Watch our newsletter for the start of the new Corporate Friends Network.
